A tale about the three treasures…
When the world was created God summoned his four most beloved angels and asked them to share the world’s most precious treasures with people. Real treasures.
One angel was given kind-heartedness, the second one was given love and the third one peace.
The angels went down to Earth ready to share the most valuable gifts. They lined up to each person but couldn’t share any of the treasures. People’s hearts were shut with big, heavy locks. Hatred, jealousy, maliciousness and greed were guarding the locks. The angels went up to each person to share the gifts but people’s hearts would not open. God felt sad seeing all of that, as he knew that this would lead to destruction, war and poverty.
As God was feeling sorrowful, his fourth beloved angel stepped forward, who God forgot about. ‘Please listen to me. You have given my angel friends kind-heartedness, love and peace, but they had no value, as people’s hearts were shut. Give me the woodlands and I will open people’s hearts. God looked at the little angel with amazement, then smiled. His smile was glowing like the sunshine through the clouds. ‘Try it my dearest, I will give you all the woodlands.’ said God.
On that very day the fourth angel went down to Earth to enrich the woodlands. The wind was blowing gently and the trees were whispering to each other. The trees, flowers and meadows were chuckling. The elves and fairies were chuckling. And the woodland had become alive. Elves were teaching animals all the good things they needed to learn. Birds were singing, flowers were blooming, and a fairy lived in each flower.
And the fourth angel knew the woodland was beautiful and pleasing and so he went to look for his three angels friends- the angel of kind-heartedness, the angel of love and the angel of peace. ‘Come with me, my angel friends. The beautiful woodland will open people’s hearts and you can place God’s gifts in their hearts.’
The angels got to the deepest and most beautiful part of the woodland, a clearing that is also called the Angels clearing. The four angels sat down and waited for the people to come to the woodland.
The first person arrived. The flowers were blooming, the water fall was telling fairy tales, the birds were singing, trees were whispering, the man saw and heard nothing. Took an ax in his hand and started cutting down the trees.
The angels were deeply saddened when they saw that no matter how beautiful the woodland was, the man saw and heard nothing and instead he went on to destroy. His heart remained shut. The angels weeped for the man. The trees were crying, the wind, flowers, and elves were also crying.
The second person arrived. The flowers were blooming, the water fall was telling fairy tales, the birds were singing, trees were whispering, the man saw and heard nothing. Instead he started to collect twigs.
The angels were deeply saddened when they saw that no matter how beautiful the woodland was, the man was oblivious to the beauty around him and instead decided to collect twigs in silence. The angels weeped for the man. The trees were crying, the wind, flowers and elves were also crying.
Then the third person arrived. He stopped and admired the beautiful clearing. He heard the trees cry. He saw the flowers and the trees and heard the waterfall and said in silence:
‘My God, this is beautiful.’ … and that moment a big, rusty lock fell off his heart. The Sun was rising, the sky was blue, all the birds were singing, the trees were dancing, the elves and fairies were chuckling.
‘How beautiful.’ the man said
…and the angels tiptoed towards the man and one by one placed the treasures in his open heart. God was looking down on Earth smiling.
There are three types of people living in the world: a destroyer, a collector and a seeing man.
You are going to be a seeing man, aren’t you? When you open your heart and see the beauty around you, you allow God’s most precious treasures flow through you.
When you return from the woodlands to the people, amongst the destroyers and collectors and they are unpleasant towards you and you still return their unpleasantness with kindness and love, and treat everyone with kindness, and you have a positive outlook even through the toughest challenges, only then will people find out that you had visited the woodlands and the Angels clearing.
